What is ADHD Parent Coaching?

ADHD Parent Coaching is a collaboration between parents and the coach to analyse areas of tension and difficulty in the parenting experience, and then develop new skills and strategies to support both the parent and child.

Parent coaching guides parents to understand their parenting style and reflect that some styles are not as effective as others.

An ADHD parent coach has a number of strategies to explore with parents.

Some of them are:

  • Learning to “choose your battles”
  • Focusing on previous successes
  • Evidence-based behavior management strategies
  • Management of our own emotional reactions

Why does ADHD Parent Coaching work?

The parent is better positioned to take charge of their parenting role, the parent is more confident and is able to make appropriate parenting decisions while supporting their child with ADHD.

ADHD Parent Coaching Program

Introducing The Confident ADHD Parent Formula program, the program designed specifically to support parents of children with ADHD. With this powerful program, you’ll have all the resources and support you need to make positive changes in your life and in the lives of those around you.

I understand that every parent face different challenges when it comes to their child’s wellbeing – that’s why this course provides tailored solutions you need to gain insight into how ADHD can impact a child’s development and behaviour, while learning essential strategies and techniques to support them through their unique needs.

You will receive four modules of relevant education on ADHD and be supported by four coaching sessions to learn how to apply the education and strategies to your family. This course has been designed by a parent with lived experience but with the unique knowledge of the research on ADHD and parenting. It is based on evidence-based resources from experts such as Dr. Russell Barkley, Dr. Ed Hallowell, Dr. Ross Greene and the Tuning into Kids course.

Neurotypical parenting needs to be tweaked for our families and I will show you how and why. You will also receive support to make the changes over the program. This program provides the support to find clarity and peace in your parenting. It’s a principal-based course and you will learn to tap into your strengths as a parent to be a confident parent.

We work together virtually via Zoom, Skype or WhatsApp, or in-person in the Perth area.  Each coaching session is for 45 minutes to 60 minutes.

Thank you for giving me hope.

Thank you for the actual real advice and strategies that I’ve been searching for over the past 3 years!! 1 session already has empowered me to believe I can parent my son and be a supportive parent to him.

Thank you for giving me hope that there are people that really want to help us be the parent we need to be for our children.

I wish I made contact with you years ago

I know I can’t look back but so wish I had made the contact with you years ago when we met. Have been re thinking everything I say and am loving it.  Of course no change yet and I am not looking for that at this stage.

Looking forward to slow progress with my daughter but at least it will be forward.

Many many thanks.

Useful tips for parenting our son.

Thank you, this was a very useful session which provided us with some useful tips for parenting our son. In particular, it was great to hear from another parent with a son who has the same issues – it made the advice seem more authentic.

Support with academic, social and emotional challanges

I started seeing Susan to get support in parenting my ADHD daughter who was facing all sorts of academic, social and emotional challenges. Life at home had become pretty stressful and we found that the regular parenting techniques didn’t work for my daughter. Susan has been instrumental in turning around how I understood my daughter and in offering ways to rebuild the connection between us. In each session with Susan, not a minute is wasted. She works with you to dig down and work out what is driving behaviour in your child and in you and works with you to very quickly come up with very pragmatic solutions. I’ve been to several psychologists over the years and have found Susan has a set of skills that are much more relevant and effective than psychologists I’ve seen. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anybody seeking support in parenting their ADHD child.
