Embracing the School Holidays: A Time for Rest and Rejuvenation
I hope you’re all enjoying a relaxing and rejuvenating break from the hustle and bustle of school routines and homework. The school holidays are a perfect time for our children to have a total break from all things school-related, allowing them to recover fully from the demands of the past 11-week term. It’s essential for their well-being and helps them recharge for the next term ahead. It’s common for our children to not even want to socialize because of the constant social demands of the school term. The winter weather does allow lots of chilling!
Understanding Your Child’s NAPLAN Report
As we move towards the start of Term 3, many of you will be receiving your child’s Individual Student Report from NAPLAN. Remember, this report is just an indication of how your child is doing. It’s one test on one day and doesn’t capture the whole picture of your child’s abilities and potential. The most useful way to read the report is to get an idea of where your child’s ability in each subject sits against the national average. Use the results as a tool to identify their strengths and areas which may need additional support. When you view the results this way, it becomes a helpful guide in supporting your child’s learning journey rather than a source of stress.
If you are concerned about any results, please make a time to talk to your child’s teacher and start to formulate a plan if your child needs support. The best place to access support for your child will be during the school day but if the school does not have resources, then knowing this equips you to seek additional support.
Highlights from the WA ADHD Conference
Last weekend, the WA ADHD Conference took place, and it was an incredible experience! Did you get along to it? Did you find it interesting? I had a wonderful opportunity to be part of a panel of ADHD educators speakers discussing how we can better support our children in school. I’m very aware of how challenging this journey can be, and I shared a little about how relieved I am to have both my young adults finished with their schooling years.

Sarah Thompson from Online Social Butterfly has been my business coach for a few years now. She has a wonderfully uplifting podcast called The Social Circus. This week I was lucky enough to chat with her.
I share my journey and experience from living with a child with ADHD and how this led me to do the work I now do supporting other parents raising children with ADHD. I suspect we got off track a little from her normal business conversation, but it’s a great conversation.
Please listen and share with your friends and family.
